Cafe la Fleur

About Cafe la Fleur

Inspired by a New Orleans dining experience, Cafe la Fleur’s unique style is a signature restaurant in downtown Laurel. Owners Matt and Amy Flowers have served their classic homemade menu items including gumbo, bisque and bread pudding in downtown Laurel since 1997.

Cafe la Fleur

The menu is mixed with New Orleans style taste, Southern flair and classic Americana, with homemade specialties including a traditional Gulf Coast recipe gumbo. This dark roue gumbo was passed down from Matt’s grandfather, Claiborne Netto Koch, who cooked the gumbo for his family while Matt was growing up. After receiving a simple handwritten copy for himself years ago, Matt continues to share this special Gulf Coast recipe with visitors of the restaurant. Matt’s gumbo and his signature poboys have been featured in Southern Living Magazine.
